Sean, are you hosting this meeting or simply providing a spot and time? By hosting I mean taking on a leadership role in organizing the meeting? I don't think we should leave all the details to the start of the meeting and waste time. We should come up with a list of the topics needing discussion, and go through them one at a time and get them resolved. This would work much smoother with one person taking that leadership role and keeping things moving along. Just my two cents.

Good call Garret. Along that same line, we should also probably limit the number of topics to a reasonable number - say four, no more than six. And it wouldn't hurt to have a firm time set that we'll be leaving either, that should help to minimize some of the "dithering" that can occur at meetings. Does that sound workable to everyone?

I was planning on hosting, but of someone wants me to take a leadership role instead of anyone else just say. So whatever anyone wants or if someone wants to take leadership of this meeting just shout out....else wise we will meet and I can lead.....doesnt matter to me one way or the other.
Prior to meeting we should have an agenda though. We cant all show up and complain, there are a lot of positive thing about MHTG and a lot of things going in the right direction...just some minor problems in the club, and I have seen a nomination for treasurer, but no niminations for who wants to lead the club for the next while........any volunteers or nominations?

Just my thoughts on the agenda, *Treasure position (Shebear has been nominated) *Event coordinator position (a few members had volunteered for this position, but no action has been taken) *Current problems in the club *Stickers and shirts (Shebear has offered to take over doing this but still needs to be decided by the club) *Club BBQ etiquette These are just the areas we have noticed need some organization, brought to our attention by other club members thoughts and concerns.

I think that SheBear & I would be happy to contribute, she's volunteered to be treasurer (which I didn't see coming before it happened). I've been thinking about trying to do some research & finding some good new routes for our cruises, & She & I have talked about having a BBQ/meeting at our place some day. I don't know if we'd have the time to take a quote/unquote "leadership role", but we can certainly take some of the load, & do what we can to make this an even more awesome group to be a part of...

Heather and I will not be making this meeting. Not because we have other things going on, not because we don't care what happens with the club either. We feel that there is no point in us being there. This meeting is to discuss the future of the club, what direction you all are taking it in, etc. I have had a blast working wth all of you in the past and I feel confident that the future will be a bright one. Thank you all (in advance) for taking the time out of your busy schedules to attend this important meeting, for working things out and continuing where we left off.

I think it would still be nice of you to come and maybe give some input. You know what works and doesn't work as well as any of the rest of us do.
Sorry I have been quiet this week, I have been working 6 day work weeks the last couple of weeks, today was day 6 again...and it is hard to do much with one day off let alone find time to work on the heads to get the new motor ready. I have half a day to work on the car tommorrow as I have a funeral to attend in the afternoon. I will be at the meeting Saturday night.
Hey Conrad if you have time you might want to consider a "leadership position." I know there aer a lot of people out thee that care about MHTG. I think the biggest problem we have been seeing is it takes alot of time to keep MHTG running smooth...if people had time I would say the peole I could see taking up point for the next while would be; Conrad, Kathy, Paul, Brandon or Missy Alabama.
As I have said in the past I have been helping with car shows and still plan on volunteering to keep everyone up to date on car shows.

Yeah, I'd completely agree. Just because you guys are bailing on us doesn't mean that we couldn't benefit from the knowledge you've gotten over the last 3+ years...

i was planning on asking garett and heather a few questions as well, and thought it would be nice to have their (helpful) input. i understand if you guys feel you wouldnt be a necessary part of the meeting but i believe you would be invaluable with the experience you have in running this thing.

I think that Drew, Brandon, or Mike would make a good leader or for them to share the title. They have been on most of the cruises the past few years. I know that except for Brandon they are newer to the club; but, Brandon is too busy being the resident stud and party animal to take this on full time. Thus said it is just my opinion. And you know what they say about opinions!!!

I was amazed that not more people attended. There are a few things that need to be handled a little differently. There are a lot of positive things that make this an AWESOME CLUB, and we want to keep it this way. We have also come to realize that it will take a few people to pick up where Heather and Garret will be leaving off. We will also be holding true to the original Core Values but have also come up with a few more, or tweaked to make them a little better for all involved. If any of the below strikes a nerve then focus on making it better. If more needs to be added or amended then please speak up or forever hold your peace! For the club elections we have named the following.
Treasurer- shebear Need a T-shirt or sticker send her a PM and she will collect the money and get you what you want. There will be no orders without the money up front. The last Treasurer got stuck quite a few times with orders and no takers but left with the bill.
Event Coordinators- V8Rumble, sofaking27, 86IrocZmidnight, and Mark Wells. These fine young men will get the ball rolling when it comes to cruises, setting event dates, get togethers and keeping everyone up to date on car shows big and small.
1) This is a family oriented club. *Please keep this in mind when there are children present at gatherings and act accordingly. 2) Posting Ethics *No bashing other members for this can and has reduced our member population. (postings can be deleted) There is no need to act like a child. 3) Leave no one behind on cruises. * I am pleased to say this has not happened and never will! We have left one car behind (with a blown motor) and others went back later to retrieve same day from Castle Rock. A few cars have needed parts and a little help making it to and back from cruises, but hey that is half the fun! 4) Get togethers * Be courteous to the host and their neighbors. (i.e)... No burnouts, PLEASE! 5) Wrench days, Detail days * This has been a great way for people to help others out. No fees or charges ever, please be kind enough to feed those who were kind enough to show up however (depending on the time). #4 applies here as well! Return the favor if given the chance. It is really sad when someone goes out of their way to help someone and then they are not willing to reciprocate. If you have told someone you will help SHOW UP or at least call and reschedule. If you have no intention of helping others and require help call a repair shop! 6) Cruising * The pace of the cruise should be safe. Some drive faster than others. Try and stay towards the front if you enjoy the quicker pace (Even the slow appreciate this when leaving a shorter than average light). And please have a little patience waiting for those who struggle to maintain the speed limit.

honestly, I didn't show up because I am very new to the club(last year the wife and i belonged to a camero/firebird club that never really got off the ground), and have not really had a chance to become all that involved (I've only made it to the tire center this spring and only then to try to introduce myself (I'm the guy with the jeep lol)) also I figured that the core group did not need or desire my input about these decisions(and rightfully so). basically i would have just been there as a distraction and as an introduction and would have gotten in the way. as the wifes new ride gets fixed I do plan on trying to be more involved, other than on the forum. while i cant speak for her(I'll get beaten on) i know she would love to get to know the people and at least catch a cruize or two on days off.
Have I mentioned the love /hate relationship I have with my wife's cars

Mark pretty much hit it on the head right here - any changes that might be made are likely going to be more evolutionary than revolutionary. We've got a pretty good thing going here (for the most part) & we'd like to keep it that way. #1 - 98% of the time, this hasn't been a problem at all, but it's not a bad idea to put it into black & white... #2 - This is a bit tough to define. Basically, we're asking that if you don't actually KNOW the person that you're thinking of "razzing" (and if you don't have a pretty good rapport with them), please think twice. I was surprised to learn that we've lost members because of this. And if you do razz someone, please make sure to use the "smilies", so that it's obvious that you're making a joke. (Matt's really gotten us a pretty good selection of 'em, & they can go a long way toward avoiding a joke being misunderstood.)#3 - Quite possibly the "core tenet" of MHTG. If/When someone has a problem on a cruise, everyone pulls over, & those who are able to will generally lend a hand/tools/parts to get the wounded vehicle back on the highway. It's probably best if everyone's aware of that before joining a cruise. #4 - Again, 98% of the time, this isn't a problem. (But if you think about it, it would be rather discouraging to go through all the work needed to hold a get-together, & have someone get your neighbors -or worse, the cops- ticked off at you...) #5 - This has been a great way to meet new people & to get big projects accomplished. #6 - There's a bit more to say on this subject, but I'm still gathering a bit of information. Bottom line is, we should all be able to be mature enough to keep it safe while having fun... Thanks again to all who showed up last night!

I also didn't attend for nearly the same reasons as Crackrat. Although I have been on a number of cruises, that alone doesn't qualify me to give input to a club I didn't start, and which, for now, I am merely a member. I am however, VERY passionate about my car(s) and feel I can and will add valuable insight into a group of like-minded people. I tend to be pretty focused on appearance, detail, history and originality, while others seem to be racing inspired, and there is nothing wrong with either view, if I ever need advice on how to make my car go faster, I have the resources within OUR club to do just that, rather than some random icon on another site. and likewise, If Lee for instance wants car stereo advice or detail tips, he has those same options locally. Some folks are here to be social and some want help with a certain project or questions. All of these thing are the reasons we have a club in the first place. That doesn't mean I have to go racing or anyone else has to have a show car. I would like to see this club grow and thrive, cultivating relationships and very possibly in the future, take a more active role in the club. (thanks, Shebear for the thoughts) Living this far north does create it's own issues, I would love to be more available for tech help, late night teardowns, etc, but that could get expensive in gas alone.. not saying I won't occasionally attend such events, I just can't justify the expense very often (still unemployed, lol) Just my 2 cents. I would like to see some kind of club charter and/or by-laws created to give some kind of future direction for the club, allowing those founding/longstanding members the satisfaction of seeing it grow into something they can enjoy and be proud of. what is the ultimate goal of the club? Just trying to get creative juices flowing here. At the end of the day, however divided on other issues we may be, we are still just a bunch of people that love their cars.

Wow. I wish that I'd realized that people felt that way, I would've included something to the effect of "your time in the group matters less than your passion for it" or something like that... Basically, if you care about MHTG, we want to get your feedback.

honestly i hadnt been here long enough to have ideas nor been totaly aware of any issues ...lol currently ive been spending to much time under that cars i own to help others but that in time will change. I do know from the time i spent at the tire shop and talking to mark wells, that i have found a great bunch of people and we have common interests as well as common issues. just really glad to be a apart of mhtg and hopefully grow as the club does.
